Rogue One: A Starwars story

Posted by Bhagvan K on Sunday, December 18, 2016, In : movies

Rogue One : A Star Wars story is a great movie and a prequel to starwars movie series. The planets and the satellites that they show are mapped to real ones. For a change, there is no opening crawl at the start of the movie.  Another big differentiator is a female led story where daughter of an architect tries to help the rebels not to kill the planets. Instead of R2-D2, there is a new droid K-2SO.

A Saturn-sized planet in our own galaxy reminded Nasa scientists so much of the fiction...

Mohen jadro : Content vs action oriented

Posted by Bhagvan K on Thursday, August 18, 2016, In : movies

Movie starts with mohen jadro replication of our text book image in social studies...

Movie has a great historical background. Ashutosh as usual focuses on the taking the audience through the time line and in between trace back the time line of sarman's father srujan and uncle durjan fighting against maham. The time line shift in between gives the audience the shift in movie's direction...non linear chronology... reminds me of pulp fiction style...

In between, indus script based language used i...

Thoongavanam - Movie from kamal

Posted by Bhagvan K on Sunday, December 6, 2015, In : movies
Kamal comes up with a real life story of a sincere cop.  I saw it in tamil. It is a great movie made like a hollywood movie. It is based on a french movie "Nuit blanche (Sleepless nights)". The story moves with the life and camera on the cop who struggles between sincerity and corrupt world. The movie presents true sincerity of a cop who tries to bring down the smugglers in disguise. Kamal ends up sitting in the office wounded to act like nothing has happened.

The movie is shot as the audience...

Posted by Bhagvan K on Sunday, November 29, 2015, In : movies
For all those great Rocky Balboa fans, Creed is a great movie where Balboa changes as coach to Apollo Creed's son.  Rocky has been a great movie series for me.  It was great when I was a kid to watch and grow up thinking one day I will be rocky balboa - physically. It was great today when I went with my father to watch the movie. We watched Rocky III in 1982, Rocky IV in 1985, Rocky V in 1990 and Rocky VII in 2015. I remember talking to dad regarding Rocky VI in 2006. It was great to watch in...

Posted by Bhagvan K on Saturday, November 14, 2015, In : movies
Bridge of spies - Spielberg movie shows how a common man James Donnovan played by Tom Hanks tries to solve a very complex security intelligence problem with ease and comes out in flying colours. The way he thinks about humanity versus national politics, cold war is depicted in the movie by spielberg. Tom Hanks as usual performs with natural ease.  His acting as a insurance lawyer to defend a soviet agent and negotiate with russia and east germany to release two americans for one.

Walk : Spectacular movie

Posted by Bhagvan K on Saturday, November 7, 2015, In : movies
Walk is a great movie with unbelievable scenes. Walking on a tight rope is shown great starting from street rope walk to the world trade center  buildings - walk on the rope.

Like a usual hollywood movie, technology plays the key role in taking the person from the street to the walking across the building. Ben kingsley plays the role of a mentor to teach  joseph levitt.  9/11 memories are completely erased with walk movie...when they show the twin towers emerge from the clouds as levitt walks ...

The martian movie from ridley scott is a spectacular movie. Matt Damon does it as usual with ease the astronaut dropped alone hurt in mars. The technology plays an important role in saving the hero by connecting through a cord and picking him up.
